MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have identified the body of a woman that was found earlier this week in the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Friday authorities recovered the body of 16-year-old Erika Renee Borgstrom of Roberts, Wis. She had jumped into the river with Dakotah Coach in the early-morning hours of May 14 from the Stone Arch Bridge.

Authorities responded to a report of a body in the Mississippi River on Wednesday at the Picnic Island Canoe Landing near Fort Snelling. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Water Patrol headed to the scene to recover the body, which turned out to be Borgstrom.

Friends of the two told WCCO-TV last week the two were a couple. Borgstrom was a sophomore at St. Croix Central High School in Hammond, Wis. Coach was a senior there.
