Celebrate 'Bike Walk Week' In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Twin Cities is considered one of the top places in the country to ride a bike, so don't be shocked if you see a lot of bicycles around town this week.

It's "Bike Walk Week" in Minnesota, and the emphasis is on replacing any trip you would normally take with a vehicle by either riding a bike or walking. In the process, you're getting outside and getting healthier.

Jessica Hill with Commuter Connection said that means it doesn't just involve taking your bike to work. It could mean biking to go see that family movie or making that short trip to the grocery store on two wheels instead of four.

There are several events involved in "Bike Walk Week," including Bike to Work Day on Thursday. There are also events in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, and in Fridley. There's also plenty of tips available on bike safety.
