Sheriff: Boy, 3, Drowned In Nisswa Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a 3-year-old boy is dead as the result of an apparent drowning in a Nisswa Lake Monday night.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was called at about 6:25 p.m. Monday on a report of an unresponsive 3-year-old boy who was found in Lake Edna in Nisswa. When authorities arrived, the boy had been found near the shoreline by his family.

Emergency crews attempted to revive the boy, but they were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said it's still under investigation how the boy ended up in the water, but they do not suspect foul play at this point.

The boy's identity won't be released by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner until his family can be notified. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Nisswa and Pequot Lakes Fire Departments, the Cass County Sheriff's Office,  Nisswa Fire Department, North Ambulance and Lakes Area Chaplaincy.
