Sheriff: Woman Drowned In Owatonna Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a woman is dead after drowning in an Owatonna Lake Sunday night.

The Steele County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a possible drowning at Lake Kohlmier Beach at about 4:54 p.m. Sunday. When authorities arrived, an unidentified Hispanic female was reported being face down in the water.

Sheriffs deputies were able to pull the woman from the water, but attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending a notification of her family.

The Steele County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Owatonna Police, Owatonna Fire, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Coroner's Office. Authorities said what led up the drowning is still under investigation.
