Man Charged In Apple Valley Man's Punching Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old Minneapolis man has been charged with the death of a 53-year-old Apple Valley man he allegedly felled with one punch.

Charges were filed in Hennepin County against Tristan Keys in the April 29 incident.

Investigators say that Keys went to the Stop 'N' Shop on the 3000 block of First Avenue South in Minneapolis that evening and pulled up alongside the vehicle being driven by Lamar Wilson. There were others in the SUV as well.

Someone in the vehicle allegedly accused Wilson of being "a snitch." Wilson then got out of the vehicle to talk with the people in the SUV. Witnesses said that Keys punched Wilson once, and the 53-year-old man dropped to the ground "like a rag doll."

He was declared brain dead the following day. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said he died as a result of blunt force trauma from craniocerebral injuries.

Keys was scheduled for his first court appearance this Friday.
