Timberwolves To Play NBA Game In Mexico City

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Professional basketball seems to be getting more global every year, and NBA teams are taking notice by playing games in other countries.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that for the first time in franchise history, they'll play a 2013-14 regular season game in Mexico City as part of the NBA's Global Game schedule. The Timberwolves will face the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 4 at the Mexico City Arena.

It's the third time the Timberwolves will travel internationally to play a regular season game, but the first time they'll be in Mexico City. They played two regular season games in Japan to start the 1999-2000 season.

The Timberwolves are one of 12 teams playing 10 regular season and preseason games in eight cities across six countries.
