St. Paul: Log Jam Cleanup Could Begin Friday
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Cleanup on the quickly growing and massive river log jam on Raspberry Island in St. Paul will tentatively begin on Friday, according to the city of St. Paul.
Initially, there were issues over who was responsible for removing the pileup as the St. Paul Yacht Club said it couldn't afford to do so.
The city has now said it will take care of the issue at a possible cost of about $25,000. The city said the jam's becoming a public safety threat, and that it could damage the Wabasha St. Bridge if it keeps growing.
The city wants the yacht club and other property owners downriver to remove docks and boats, adding that it won't be responsible for damage during the cleanup.
