Local Music Tap: 'Minne Fest' @ Whiskey Junction
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minne Fest is a tribute music event with other great ambitions: Promoting local art and raising money for children charities.
On July 13, the all-day and all-night event will be held inside and outside The Whiskey Junction in Minneapolis and will feature 10 bands on three stages. All music will be provided by local bands paying tribute to their favorite groups from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's ranging from The Grateful Dead to My Morning Jacket.
Outdoor music goes from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Then, music moves inside at 10 p.m. and will run until 2 a.m. on two indoor stages.
This festival was created around the idea of promoting local art, music, businesses and projects all while raising money for children in need. The event will support Children's Hospital and Cruise for a Cause by Just Kidding Clothing, which is a clothing charity for children.
Some of the money will also be going towards local film project, The Big Wu Documentary and to the artists involved.
Also featured will be, "The Minne Art Crawl" where paintings, pottery, photography and massages will be available for purchase. Local artists Jesse Golfis with The Abstract Gallery, Eileen Cohen, Staci Caldow, Charlotte Mann, Leon Likey, Tim McGuire and Rob Specht will supply the art and two $1/min massage chairs.
There will also be a dunk tank where you can dunk celebrities with all proceeds going to Children's Hospital and Cruise for A Cause!
Win prizes such as, tickets to upcoming concerts/festivals, pieces of art from artists including a piece from ArtGuy Chuck Hues' collection and many more.
