MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A water main break in downtown Minneapolis shut off water for a number of businesses and had some unsure whether the Minnesota Lynx would be able to play their game as scheduled this evening.

The main break happened at about 7 a.m. along 2nd Avenue between 6th Street and 7th Street.

A significant amount of water flooded into the area, and eventually a small sinkhole opened up underneath the street.

According to a spokesperson for the Lynx, the Target Center was without water service as of Tuesday afternoon, but it should be restored in time for the Lynx game to go on as scheduled. The team is set to face off against the Atlanta Dream at 8 p.m.

Among the other area businesses that were reporting no water on Tuesday afternoon were the Lifetime Fitness center and Hubert's Shorts Bar and Grill, both of which are housed inside the Target Center building.
