Husband, Wife Killed After Motorcycle Crashes Into Truck

CROSBY, Minn. (WCCO) -- For the second time in less than a week, a husband and wife have been killed in a motorcycle accident in Minnesota.

Authorities said the recent crash happened in Crow Wing County Road near Crosby.

The State Patrol said a 52-year-old Coon Rapids man and his 53-year-old wife were on a motorcycle that crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck.

The husband was not wearing a helmet, though his wife was. Both died in the crash.

They were identified by the State Patrol as David and Tammy Dittes.

On July 4th, a husband and wife from Ramsey were killed when their motorcycle went out of control and crashed in Pine County. They were 57-year-old Terry Armstrong and his 47-year-old wife, Kari.

Neither was wearing a helmet in that accident.

On Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced that June was the deadliest month for motorcycle riders this year, with 10 reported deaths. Also, there have been 26 motorcycle-related deaths in 2013, compared to the 18 there were at this time last year.
