Police: City Workers Recovering After Sewer-Cleaning Accident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two city workers are recovering after a sewer-cleaning accident left them injured on the city's north side.

Police say the accident happened Thursday at 1925 Plymouth Ave. North. The workers were standing by their truck, looking down into the sewer. They had stretched a fire hose down the street and across a busy intersection to help them clean it.

But then a truck drove over the hose, and it snapped, striking the workers. One suffered significant injuries to his leg. The other suffered minor ones.

Both are recovering at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
