LA CROSSE, Wis. (WCCO) – Mary Hvsida lives near La Crosse, Wis., and as you can tell, she’s been playing drums since she was 15.

Every few months, the 63 year old pops into a local drum shop, plays the drums, then leaves.

No one really knew who she was, until a video of her playing went viral this week.

Since her last band broke up 13 years ago, Mary says she gets the urge to play every now and again.

“It makes me proud to think people still think I’m somewhat good, and still think I’m still something they’re interested in watching,” Hvsida said.

Mary has played in a dozen bands, both rock and western. She doesn’t have a drum set anymore, or a computer.

She didn’t even know what YouTube was until people explained the video of her had over a million hits as of Saturday.
