Departed Pets To Be Remembered In Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Fido and Fluffy may be departed, but pet owners will have a chance to remember them at a pet memorial next month in Minneapolis.

Two organizations that work with pets and pet owners will hold a Pet Memorial Day event on Sept. 8 at the Stone Arch Bridge/Father Hennepin Bluffs Park at St. Anthony Main.

The International Association of Pet Cemeteries created the Pet Memorial holiday in 1972. The day is celebrated on the second Sunday in September.

Pets Remembered Cremation Services and MN Pets are teaming up to honor departed pets in the Twin Cities.

A memorial tree will be planted during the ceremony. People will be able to spread their pets' ashes and scatter rose petals from the bridge in memory of their pets.
