Fifteen's 5K Started At The Dome, Ended At Target Field

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Twins' ballpark was busy this morning -- hours before their afternoon game.

It was the "finish line" for Fifteen's 5k, hosted by Twins pitcher Glen Perkins and his wife Alisha. Perkins wears jersey No. 15.

The race started at the Metrodome and ended 3.2 miles later at home plate at Target Field, benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Some Twins players and other local athletes and mascots were there, cheering on the runners.

"It's awesome to see at the start line how many more people were there compared to last year," Perkins said.

About 12,000 runners signed up -- twice as many as last year.

The Perkins were inspired to hold a charity run because two children they know have that disease.
