Toby Gerhart's Brother Trying To Make The Packers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Packers-Vikings rivalry could have an extra wrinkle this fall -- a sibling rivalry.

Toby Gerhart's in his fourth year as a Vikings running back. His brother Garth, an offensive lineman from Arizona State, is trying to make the team in Green Bay.

"He's out there working hard," Toby said. "Hopefully he sticks with them and we get to play each other a couple times a year, it'd be good times."

Garth said it'd be fun for the family.

"Of course it'd be special," he said. "We did it a few times in college. I was at Arizona State, he was at Stanford. So it's always a fun thing. It's always fun for the family."

The Gerharts are the ultimate sports family. Not only are Garth and Toby in the NFL, but their father took part in a Vikings training camp.

"Our family is super competitive," Garth said. "I have three sisters who are in their 20s too. They're super competitive. They all played softball in college."

Toby's still rooting to see his brother succeed.

"He's got to come out, and make a name for himself," Toby said. "He was an undrafted guy, and so he has to stand out … I told him play hard every day. Don't take any plays off, and have the defensive guys start talking about you."

Toby and Garth faced off three times in college and Toby's Stanford Cardinal hold the bragging rights, winning two of the three meetings.
