5-Year-Old Boy Who Drowned In Grand Rapids ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Grand Rapids Police Department has identified the 5-year-old boy who drowned after going under the water in Crystal Lake Saturday.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Grand Rapids officers responded to a possible drowning at Crystal Lake in northeast Grand Rapids. There, they learned the 5-year-old boy had gone under water attempting to get atop of a swim raft.

Officers and first responders jumped into the water and were able to pull the boy from the water.

The boy was taken to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital where he later died.

Grand Rapids Police say they are investigating the events leading up to the drowning.
