Sawyer Co. Drowning Victim's Body Found, Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Sawyer County dive teams have located the body of a 41-year-old man who went missing in Lac Courte Oreilles Lake.

On Saturday at 5:56 p.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office received a call of a drowning at the lake. The Sheriff's Office Dive Team was then activated and a search was started.

Safety issues for the dive team suspended the search at 8 p.m. due to darkness and high winds.

On Sunday, the body of Arthur Schmock was located and recovered at 9:38 a.m.

Assisting in the search was the Sawyer County Search & Rescue Team, the LCO Police Department, the St. Louis County Search & Rescue Team, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Sawyer County Ambulance Service.
