MPD Celebrates Graduation Of 7 New K-9 Partners

MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WCCO) — The Minneapolis Police Department held a graduation ceremony to honor its newest K-9 officers and their partners.

A total of seven officers have recently graduated from K-9 training with their new partners after 12 weeks of daily training.

Icon is the youngest dog in the unit at only 15 months old.

"I've had two situations in my 13 years here where I know my dog has saved my life," one officer said.

Minneapolis now has 15 dogs in their K-9 program.

Two of those officers finished training last spring, and five just graduated this summer.
