Authorities: Boy Killed In Wis. ATV Accident Was From Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The 12-year-old boy who was killed in a western Wisconsin ATV accident has been identified by the Polk County Sheriff's Office Tuesday.

On Sunday at 12:29 p.m., the Sheriff's Office was notified of the ATV accident and responded, along with Garfield Fire Department and Osceola area ambulance.

After a preliminary investigation, it's believed that the ATV was being operated by the 12-year-old boy when it overturned and came to rest on top of him.

The boy was taken to Osceola Medical Center and then to Regions Hospital. Despite life-saving measures at the scene of the accident and by hospital staff, the boy died at Regions Hospital.

The victim was identified as Alexander Palen of Minneapolis, Minn. He was wearing a helmet.

The Sheriff's Office says there has been no information or evidence obtained from the scene that suggests speed or reckless operation were factors in the accident.
