Hamline, Carleton Ranked Among Minnesota's Top Universities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- If you're looking to get a degree in Minnesota, Hamline University and Carleton College should be at the top of your list, according to the latest college rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine ranks America's best colleges annually, and just released this year's rankings, which break down schools into lists of regional universities, national liberal arts colleges, and national universities.

Hamline University was ranked highest among Minnesota colleges on the list of regional universities, and earned special marks for its affordability against the quality of its education.

Other schools that earned high rankings from the magazine's list of regional universities include (in order of how high they ranked on the regional list): St. Catherine's University, Bethel University, Augsburg College, College of St. Scholastica, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Among the nationally-ranked liberal arts colleges, Carleton College ranked very near the top with a seventh-place ranking. Also appearing on that list: Macalester, St. Olaf, Gustavus Adolphus, St. John's, College of Saint Benedict and Concordia College in Moorhead.

The top-ranking Minnesota school among national universities was the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. St. Thomas also made an appearance on that list.

Princeton University was the top-ranked school on the list of national universities, with Harvard claiming the runner-up position. Williams College in Massachusetts was the top ranked national liberal arts college.
