Gopher Hockey Announces 2013-14 TV Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota men's hockey program released its television schedule Monday for the upcoming 2013-14 season, and 31 of its 36 regular season games will have a broadcast.

It will be the first year for the Gophers and coach Don Lucia in the newly-formed Big Ten Conference. Fox Sports North, the previous main television network for Gophers hockey, will televise 19 games. The Big Ten Network will pick up nine games, and the ESPN Network is offering three televised games.

The Big Ten Network will broadcast the Hockey City Classic at TCF Bank Stadium on Jan. 17, where the Gophers will face Ohio State. Fox Sports North will broadcast their game against Ohio State the next day as part of Hockey Day Minnesota.

Fox Sports North will also televise the inaugural North Star College Cup Jan. 24-25. The Gophers first Big Ten Conference game, which is against Wisconsin on Nov. 29, will be aired on ESPNU. The Big Ten Network will also televise the first Big Ten Tournament, which is at Xcel Energy Center March 20-22.
