St. Paul Cop Injured In Stolen Car Chase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A St. Paul police officer suffered a cut to his face Wednesday after a sign came into his squad car after he hit a median during a chase.

Cmdr. Eric Anderson said the incident happened after officers had tried to stop a stolen car, which then sped off.

The driver of the stolen car veered into on-coming traffic. The officer -- who was later injured -- didn't want to follow the suspect into on-coming traggic, but ended up driving into the median.

A sign that had been on the median came into the officer's squad car and hit him in the face, leaving a small cut under his left eye.

The officer was treated at Regions Hospital and released. He was not named.

Police later found the stolen car unoccupied on the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue. They also found the driver, who was in possession of the keys.
