ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has canceled a missing person alert after two sisters taken from a Florida home by their father were located.

McKala and Madison Peters had last been seen on the 5000 block of South Hummingbird Avenue in Inverness, Fla.

Authorities believed they had been taken by their father, Edward Peters, and they thought he may have been heading to northern Minnesota with them.

On Thursday, officers with Citrus County in Florida reported that the two girls and their father had been located in Montana.

The girls were safe, authorities said.

Edward Peters has not been taken into custody.
