WINONA, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona is about to take care of a nice problem: having too much high-quality art and not enough room to display it.

The museum will unveil a 2,500-square foot gallery addition on Sunday. That's enough space to showcase between 25 and 30 works by European artists.

Executive director Andy Maus says the core of the museum is its permanent collections, and the new gallery will improve the experience for museumgoers.

The $1.4 million expansion was funded mainly by the Slaggie Family Foundation, with some private donations.

The art museum began with a strong focus on maritime art. It has since broadened to explore artists' relationship with water.
