Globe Univ. Students Suing School For Misleading Applicants
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Five Globe University students filed a class action lawsuit Wednesday against their for-profit school, alleging that the school lied to students on everything from transferability of its credits to its inferior accreditation.
Globe University is a Woodbury, Minn.-based career college offering degrees in 40 program areas, enrolling 7,803 students across 20 locations that include Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The lawsuit claims the school systematically and deliberately manipulates all prospective students with the goal of getting them to enroll, and enrolls students based on their ability to qualify for financial aid, rather than by their ability to succeed.
It also alleges Globe University lies about its inferior accreditation, which causes other post-secondary schools to reject its credits, and causes employers to reject its graduates. In addition, the lawsuit claims the school misleads students about placement rates and starting salaries that graduates can earn.
