Excellent Educator: Mike Schladweiler

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's Friday and that means it's time to recognize this week's Excellent Educator.

The award brought us to Jonathan Elementary School in Chaska, where Mike Schladweiler is one of the favorites among students. Mrs. DeCou, a third grade teacher at the school, said Schladweiler was her daughter's fourth grade teacher and is an amazing teacher.

She said he has a genuine love for the kids and what it takes to help them learn. Decou said one of his best skills is his ability to think of creative ways to deliver the instructions to the kids in class.

"I just think kids need to have a safe environment to be in because then they can learn and do their best. If they know that I truly care about that, then they're going to do well in class," Schladweiler said.

One of his students said she loves him as a teacher and all the fun games he offers in class.

"I pour my heart and soul into my class and really make sure they know that I care about them, and that I really want them to be successful. I want to do what I can to engage them every single day," Schladweiler said.
