Vikings' Patterson Earns Weekly NFL Honor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Despite losing 44-31 to the Green Bay Packers Sunday night, the Vikings earned a weekly honor handed out by the NFL on Wednesday.

Kick Returner Cordarrelle Patterson was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after opening the game with a 109-yard return for a touchdown. It's the longest kick return in NFL history, and he's the first Viking to win the award since Percy Harvin in 2009.

Patterson collected 228 kick return yards against the Packers, which ranks second in the NFL this season. He's the only player with two kick returns for a touchdown this season. Patterson leads the NFL with 703 yards on kick returns through seven games.

The Vikings face the Dallas Cowboys at noon Sunday.
