Patrol: Man, 74, Dies In Northern Minn. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 74-year-old man died in northern Minnesota Friday after being ejected from a pickup truck following a rear-end crash.

The State Patrol says the crash happened on northbound Highway 53, just north of Anton Road, when Dodge Dakota pickup hit the rear end of a semi.

The pickup then went into the ditch. Its driver, Richard Chapman of Cook, Minn., was ejected. He later died.

The driver of the semi – 51-year-old Donald Tonn of Crosby, Minn. – suffered no injuries.

The crash happened south of Cook, about 90 miles northwest of Duluth in St. Louis County.
