La Crosse Woman Accused Of Strangling Boyfriend's Dog

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- A La Crosse woman could face animal cruelty charges after her boyfriend's dog was found dead.

Police say the 32-year-old woman broke into the man's apartment early Thursday and strangled the basset hound, Jixer, with a choke collar.

The man told police he and the woman had been out that night, but he wouldn't allow her in his apartment.

The La Crosse Tribune says the woman faces charges of mistreating an animal causing death, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property when she appears Tuesday in La Crosse County Circuit Court.
