63-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Richfield

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 63-year-old Richfield man is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday evening, according to Richfield Police.

Police responded to the fatal crash at 6:07 p.m. at the intersection of 64th Street and Portland Avenue South. Authorities say a 25-year-old woman was traveling in a vehicle southbound on Portland Avenue from 64th Street in the right-hand lane when she hit two pedestrians crossing Portland.

The 63-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. A second pedestrian, a 55-year-old Richfield resident, was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

As of early Monday morning, the 55-year-old victim was in "critical but semi-stable condition," police said.

The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the investigation, which is ongoing.
