Meet The WCCO Rooftop!

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - The whole WCCO-TV family is excited about our latest addition – the WCCO Rooftop!

It has an outdoor kitchen, a working gas fireplace, locally grown plants and an amazing view above Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.

There's green, local, lush landscape to use for an array of purposes, including outdoor camping segments and even musical guests.

The plants are mostly locally grown, and the soil is locally sourced from Mississippi Top Soils in Cold Spring.

There's nothing like the rooftop's outdoor kitchen in all of Twin Cities' television, which means live cooking segments, DeRusha Eats on the roof, you name it.

Local artists Nate and Erin Moren of Tandem Made created fabulous 3D art for the roof, with materials from "Wood from the Hood," a Minneapolis company that reclaims wood from the city. The cedar is originally from telephone poles!

The wall feature is built in a way that plants will grow out of it in the spring and summer. And the garden will have it's own 10-gallon water tank on a timer.

The rooftop fire pit and bonfire area is a sight to see, complete with Adirondack chairs are from Loll Design of Duluth.

They're made from recycled milk cartons, with 312 cartons in each chair. But perhaps the coolest feature of the chairs? Hidden bottle openers, located under the right arm!
