Pedestrian Hit By Car, Killed In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a car and later died Friday night in Minneapolis.

Authorities responded to the accident at about 9:48 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Osseo Road and North 49th Avenue. When they arrived, an investigation showed a pedestrian was crossing the street at North 49th Avenue when an 18-year-old woman heading northwest on Osseo Road hit the pedestrian.

The victim, 55-year-old Alberta Geist of Brooklyn Center, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center and later died from her injuries.

Police said the driver stopped immediately and with several bystanders tried to help the victim. The driver cooperated fully with police and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
