Mike A. Boggles L.A. With Our Current Temps

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Meteorologist Mike Augustyniak had some fun with the morning crew from KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO in southern California Tuesday morning.

Augustyniak talked with Dick Helton about the blisteringly cold Christmas Eve conditions in Minnesota.

"You grew up in New York, but now you live in Minneapolis, where the weather's even worse," Helton teased.

Augustyniak returned the favor, joking about how much Los Angeles residents were complaining when the weather was in the 50s a few weeks ago. Augustyniak said he enjoyed having a drink outside when everyone else there was rushing for their coats.

Helton pointed out that Christmas Day will be in the 80s there.

"That's so sad," Augustyniak said. "All that plastic surgery is going to melt in the Hollywood hills. You need to send your people here. We have nice firm skin ... but that's 'cause it's frozen."

Augustyniak's latest forecast for the Twin Cities is for the cold to remain, and to soon be joined by a few snowflakes later in the afternoon. The Twin Cities could see a couple inches by Christmas morning.
