Benedict Leaving U Of M For Job At Auburn

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota announced Monday that Deputy Athletic Director David Benedict is leaving the school to pursue an opportunity at Auburn University.

Benedict will take over as the chief operating officer in the athletic department at Auburn, which played in the BCS National Championship for football Monday night against Florida State. Benedict will oversee day-to-day operations in the Auburn athletic department.

Benedict was hired by the U of M in July 2012 from VCU, where he oversaw the student-athlete welfare and sport supervision. U of M officials said they are looking into how Benedict's role will be filled within the Gophers athletic department.
