Wild Star Parise, Wife Welcome Their First Children

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – Another popular Minnesota sports figure now has two little bundles of joy to take care of as he also is trying to lead his team to the playoffs.

The Minnesota Wild announced Thursday that Zach Parise and his wife Alisha welcomed twins to the world on Wednesday. They had a boy, Jaxson, and a girl, Emelia. Team officials said Emelia Parise was born at 9:17 a.m. Wednesday and Jaxson arrived about one minute later.

Parise has missed the last few games for the Wild while battling through a foot injury. Parise was also recently named to the U.S. Olympic team and is expected to compete in Sochi, Russia, if his injury can heal in enough time.

Parise is the second Minnesota professional athlete to have twins during his sports season. Last July, Twins star Joe Mauer and his wife, Maddie, welcomed twin girls. Mauer and Parise both grew up in the Twin Cities area: Mauer in St. Paul and Parise in Bloomington.
