Woman Killed After Train Hits Truck In Baldwin, Wis.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 69-year-old woman was killed Wednesday after a train hit a pick-up truck in Baldwin, Wis., according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to the crash just before noon on the 2300 block of Highway 12. When authorities arrived, a pick-up truck was leaving a business in the area and was headed northbound on Highway 12 when it crosses a set of railroad tracks.

The driver of the pick-up truck noticed a westbound train and tried to back up off the tracks, but it was hit by the train on the passenger side.

The passenger in the pick-up truck was extricated and taken to Baldwin Area Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She was identified as Gloria Helen Marske of Cumberland, Wis.

Authorities said the driver, 69-year-old man Roy Lee Marske, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Nobody on the train was hurt in the accident, which was carrying mixed cargo containers.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office said the crash is still under investigation.
