Suburban Spotlight: Jamie Visits Brooklyn Park

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- All week long, the WCCO Morning Show team is putting the suburbs in the spotlight.

Jamie Yuccas' dart landed on Brooklyn Park, which is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in northwestern Hennepin County.

At 27 square miles, it's the fourth largest city in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and the sixth largest in the state, with a population of 75,781.

The city was put on the map by potato farming. The last commercial potato farm stopped in 1993, but Tater Daze still celebrates the tradition of the potato. This year it will be in mid-June.

Another summer hot spot is Edinburgh Golf Course. It does 30,000 rounds of golf a year, but it's open all year round. Skiers can use the groomed course all winter.

A year-round hot spot just off the highway is Wagner's Drive-In. It's open 365 days a year, and even when drive-in business slows down, the catering business speeds up.
