Girl, 4, Dies After Being Found Wedged Between Bed, Wall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 4-year-old girl died Wednesday night in central Minnesota, officials say, after becoming wedged between her bed and her bedroom wall.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office described the death as an accident.

The girl's mother told officials that her daughter had gone upstairs Wednesday evening to play in her room. When she went to check on her daughter 20 minutes later, the girl was unresponsive, the sheriff's office said.

Emergency crews brought the girl to Meeker Memorial Hospital, where medical personnel tried to revive her but were unsuccessful.

The county medical examiner's office release the results of their preliminary autopsy, and determined that the incident appeared to be completely accidental.

The girl had a loft-style bed raised almost four feet off the ground, officials said, and there were cubicles and drawers underneath the mattress.

She lived in Watkins, Minn., which is about 70 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
