Hopkins, Robbinsdale Issue Winter Parking Restrictions

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Twin Cities have already implemented winter parking restrictions due to this season's combo of relentless snow and persistent, frigid cold, and now parking restrictions are coming to the western suburbs.

Hopkins

On Wednesday, the city of Hopkins issued an order saying that citywide parking restrictions will go into effect in residential areas starting at 1 a.m. on Monday, March 10.

Parking will not be allowed on the odd side of city streets, and the restrictions will be enforced until April 25, unless canceled sooner. Those who park on the wrong side of the street will be slapped with a $42 parking ticket.

Robbinsdale

On Tuesday, the Robbinsdale City Council passed an ordinance restricting parking on the even-numbered side of the street, effective immediately.

The city is sending letters to residents about the restrictions, and the police will distribute warning flyers to violators before giving out tickets.

The following Robbinsdale streets will not be affected by the winter parking restrictions:

-- Noble Avenue North
-- West Broadway
-- France Avenue North, from the 2600 block to the 3200 block
-- Regent Avenue North, from the 3700 block to the 4100 block
-- Parkview Boulevard
-- Zenith Avenue North, from the 2600 block to Lowry Avenue North
-- Adair Avenue North
-- Vera Cruz Avenue North, from the 4200 block to the 4500 block
