Update: Forest Lake Walmart Reopened After Evacuation

Update: The store was reopened later Sunday evening. A Walmart representative said engineering confirmed there was just cosmetic damage.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Walmart in Forest Lake has been voluntarily evacuated late Sunday afternoon due to a potentially dangerous snow load on the roof, according to the police.

Police say the evacuation was prompted after an employee noticed what looked like a bend in the roof truss.

A building inspector is now taking a look and will determine when the building is safe for the public.

The Forest Lake Fire Department is monitoring the situation and may need to shut off gas to the building in the event of a collapse.
