Sheriff: Winona Man Found Dead, Bloodied In Backyard
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Winona County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death after a 57-year-old Winona man was found dead in the backyard of a house he was watching over the weekend.
According to the sheriff's office, the homeowners discovered the body at 3:39 p.m. Sunday at their Rollingstone, Minn. residence on the 100 block of Center Street. The man had major injuries to the back of his head.
There was also a trail of blood stretching for a block-and-a-half. His glasses were found in the street. An autopsy is being done to determine his exact cause of death.
The man had been house and dog sitting Saturday into Sunday.
The victim's identity will not be released until family members are notified.
