Police Identify Fargo Cell Phone Store Burglars
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Three Minnesota men are accused of breaking into three Fargo cellphone stores last spring and stealing more than $100,000 worth of products.
Victor Doe, 23, Blanyon Davies, 20, and Joel Lavien, 22, are each charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property, according to court documents filed Tuesday.
Police say last April the men broke the front window and kicked in the storage room door at a Verizon Wireless store in Fargo. The owner, Ronald Carlson, told police approximately $30,000 was missing.
Down the street at Cellular Communications, which Carlson also owns, the men also allegedly broke a window and got away with 86 cellphones and two iPads, worth an estimated $46,000
And at a Be Mobile Verizon Wireless, they allegedly broke a window and got about 40 items, which were valued at more than $28,000, manager Ryan Nelson said.
According to court documents, a Rochester, Minn., detective contacted the Fargo police and told them he had interviewed Lavien while investigating a burglary at a Verizon Wireless in Rochester.
The detective said Lavien admitted he had driven the other two men to several burglaries in the Midwest, including the ones at the Fargo cellphone stores. Lavien said he didn't enter the stores, but was only the driver.
Sgt. Tara Morris of the Cass County Sheriff's Department said Doe was being held at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Faribault. Morris said the other two men have not been arrested but have warrants out for their arrest.
