Study Suggests Marriage Is Good For The Heart

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It seems that marriage is good for the heart, and not just in a romantic sense.

A study of more than 3.5 million Americans finds that married people are less likely to suffer any type of heart or blood vessel problem, compared with singles, the divorced and widowed.

The study found this was true at any age, for women as well as men.

Married people had a five percent lower risk of any cardiovascular disease compared to singles.

Widowed people had a three percent greater risk and divorced people had a five percent greater risk compared to married people.
