2 Women Arrested After High-Speed Chase Ends Near Jordan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are investigating after a high-speed chase from Minneapolis to Jordan, Minn. involving a stolen vehicle ended with two women in custody.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, authorities received a report of the stolen vehicle in north Minneapolis.

An officer said he had a suspicion about a car driving in an alley, checked the plates, and realized it was stolen. The officer tried to pull the car over, but the car kept going.

That led to a police chase around 2:35 p.m. on Interstate 394 and eventually on Highway 169 in Jordan.

The suspects -- identified as 24-year-old Diane Roberta Chosa and 24-year-old Collette Ann Hanson -- were traveling at speeds greater than 90 mph, police said. Chosa was the driver.

Police spokesman John Elder said officers initially noticed suspicious activity at the intersection of 36th and Fremont. When Chosa saw police, she took off.

"A pursuit ensued, multiple agencies were involved including the State Patrol and the State Patrol helicopter," Elder said.

Police Chase

The chase eventually ended after about an hour in Scott County, where the two were arrested after the car broke down.

Police are investigating the incident, but say it appears the suspects threw drugs out of the vehicle. Those were later recovered by police.

Elder said the vehicle was involved in two crashes before stopping -- with the damage to the vehicle eventually forcing them to stop.

He said it is unusual for a chase to go on for such a long distance, but the situation was being monitored, watching for traffic, road conditions and speeds.

"And those were constantly being monitored by supervisors, who at any time, could have called the pursuit off," he said.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.

Chosa and Hanson were both booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.
