Need A Quick Workout Recovery? Try Oats

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Do you exercise a lot but need a long time to recover from your workout? A new study suggests something you eat could help you recover faster.

A University of Minnesota study found a compound in oats helped to stop inflammation after strenuous exercise for women over 50. It also increased the amount of antioxidants in the body.

Researchers said the key is preventing inflammation after your workout because it can cause muscle pain. That can lead to people not wanting to exercise at all, and that puts your overall health at risk. Other studies have shown that whole grains and dairy products may also ease inflammation.
