Punch Pizza Inspires Small Business Owner To Raise Wages

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Twin Cities pizza chain is getting national attention once again for leading the way with higher employee wages.

"Hi, everybody.  In my State of the Union Address, I talked about pizza.  More specifically, I talked about a pizza chain in Minneapolis - Punch Pizza - whose owner, John Soranno, made the business decision to give his employees a raise to ten bucks an hour," President Obama said in his weekly address.

In his weekly address, President Barack Obama said another small business owner decided to pay her employees more after hearing about Punch Pizza.

Obama is pushing for support on a federal bill that would raise the minimum wage.

The President said a majority of Americans support the bill, but many Republicans in Congress don't.

Congress has yet to vote on the issue of raising minimum wage, despite the president's wishes that they do.
