MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Sheila Hirsch and lacrosse is a combination that has worked well for her and her Edina High School team.

“I love playing lacrosse. I love playing it with my school and my summer lacrosse team, mainly because I love my teammates,” Hirsch said. “Really, it’s what makes the sport as great as it is.”

Edina Coach Chelsea Duke Miller says Hirsch is an incredible athlete.

“Every day she comes to practice, to games, anything we do, with the utmost energy, enthusiasm and poise,” Miller said. “And [she] just is really [an] indelible athlete and someone we can count on every single day.”

That’s why she succeeds – because of who she is and what she does for her team.

“As a captain, I try to be a leader. I try to be someone that they look up to, they can go to if they have a problem or need to ask a question,” Hirsch said.

Miller says Hirsch’s leadership skills bolster her Hornet’s squad.

“Everybody around her is better because of Sheila Hirsch,” Miller said. “She is someone who not only is energetic, but is someone we can look forward to to get everybody calmed down and pumped up when we need them.”
