Star Wars-Inspired Bionic Arm Gets FDA Approval
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Star Wars fans know all about the epic light-saber battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker where Luke loses his right hand.
Now, a groundbreaking bionic arm inspired by Star Wars could soon be used to help real-life amputees.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the battery-powered prosthetic known as DEKA.
Unlike most current prostheses, the new bionic arm can perform delicate tasks like zipping up a coat, unlocking a door with a key, or even handling an egg without breaking it.
