Police: 17-Year-Old Shot, Killed In North Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police are looking for a suspect after a 17-year-old boy was shot early Sunday morning and later died.

Police were called to the 1600 block of Newton Avenue North just before 2 a.m. on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the boy on the ground in front of a home suffering from a bullet wound. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment and died Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said it's not clear if the victim was shot where he was found by police or if the incident happened in another location.

"We are still early in the investigation and there are no leads yet," Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said.

"Anytime you have anyone die it is unfortunate and it's sad, but it's amplified when it's a juvenile," Elder said.

Witnesses at the scene were not cooperative with police.

The victim will be identified later by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

There have been no arrests made in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information should call Minneapolis Police.
