Minnesota Company Recalls Some Cheese, Salsa
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says consumers should avoid eating certain cheese and salsa produced by Coon Rapids-based Parkers Farm Acquisition because of possible listeria contamination.
The department says no illnesses have been linked to the products.
Parkers Farm is cooperating with the investigation and has issued a voluntary recall for certain products, including cold pack cheese and salsa.
The products are distributed locally under the Parkers Farm label. Retailers selling the products include Cub, Rainbow, County Market and Kowalski's.
Listeria is a foodborne illness that is especially dangerous to pregnant women, newborn babies and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea.
